Our Sustainability Efforts
About Our Takeout Containers
We have partnered with Miami Waterkeeper to advise us as we adopt more environmentally friendly business practices including the introduction of our new takeout containers. While these containers are not perfect, our new packaging will prevent the use and disposal of many plastic bowls and trays.
COMPOSTABLE BOWLS AND TRAYS
Our new bowls and trays are made from bamboo! This means that they are biodegradable and that they can be composted into healthy soil instead of sent to a landfill or incinerator. When you have finished your delicious meal, simply place these items in your backyard composter or take them to a local compost drop-off site, such as Miami Beach Botanical Garden, Back2Earth, Cerasee Farm, or Earth n’ Us Farm.
PLASTIC LIDS
Our lids are the most environmentally responsible option available that does not compromise the quality of our dishes as they travel to you. Our plastic lids are recyclable in other counties, but not in Miami-Dade, so please do not place them in your recycling bin.
This is one reason why we need to urge local representatives to review our county’s recycling options and Miami-Dade’s current contract with Waste Management Inc. which expires in March 2023. The contract with Waste Management does not allow the recycling of these plastic lids and other seemingly recyclable plastics.
